Banque Libano-Française, one of the business and non-business participants in Lebanon to join the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), has become, since May 2015, a member of the AUB-led UNGC Local Network Steering Committee. This committee comprises of many business and non-business leaders. Its role is to set a plan, oversee the activities of the Network and serve as the focal point of coordination and communication. As for the Network, it aims at supporting the advancement and implementation of UNGC principles through dialogue, the exchange of information and the expansion of Lebanon signatories to the UNGC, as well as the creation of opportunities for multi-stakeholder engagement and collective action.
BLF signed the UN Global Compact on October 17, 2014, embracing therefore a set of core values in the areas of human rights, labor standards, the environment and anti-corruption.
Launched in 2000, the UNGC is the world’s largest voluntary corporate responsibility initiative that offers a strategic policy for businesses that are committed to align their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles.
